Disney World is without a doubt one of the best holiday destinations. But did you know that timing your visit can have a significant impact on your experience? Disney has done plenty to spread attendance throughout the year but paying attention to dates is still worth it. it’s crucial, therefore, to know when to go to Disney World.

When to Go to Disney World

In this post, we’ll discuss the best times to go to Disney World. The periods mentioned represent times when the crowds are relatively low to moderate.

Over the years, Disney has made deliberate efforts to put special events, festivals, parties and promotions to fill up the parks and hotels during the traditional off-season so they’re not as slow as they were before. Even if you have limited times you can go to Disney World, choosing the best arrival and departure times might be worth it.

During peak times, hotel rates will be pricey and parks will be overcrowded. Most of the restaurants will be booked months in advance and you’re likely to pay more for meals. Going to Disney during the peak season can be overwhelming and it will cost you — both in terms of time and money. Therefore, if you do decide to go during these peak times, you should create a Disney World checklist to ensure that you’re getting everything you need done and know what to bring with you.

On the other hand, going at off-peak times means smaller crowds and lower hotel rates. You can definitely do much more in a day when you’re not dealing with large crowds.

Best Times to Go to Disney World

With that said, the best times to go to Walt Disney are:

Mid-November To Mid-December (Except Thanksgiving Week)

During this period, the weather is quite pleasant and cool, the attendance is moderate, special events are running and Christmas decorations are up. Disney resorts typically fill up in December, but you won’t have to deal with huge crowds during early December. If you’ll be visiting the Magic Kingdom, expect crowds on Saturday.

Second Week of January To Mid-February

This time of the year is also cool, sometimes even a bit cold. It’s one of the least busy times and hotel prices are low. The trick here is to avoid any holiday weekends. For instance, the first week of January can be busy due to the Walt Disney World Marathon and extended holiday vacations.

First Three Weeks of May

May is typically warm, but not unbearably so. Hotel prices are moderate and so are the crowds. However, expect some crowds during the Memorial Day weekend but it’s rarely bad.

Late August And Entire Month of September

This is the peak hurricane season and it will be extremely hot. Plan to visit the waterparks in the afternoon. Off-site hotels will usually have their rates at an all-time low during this period as crowds are low.

Bottom Line

Knowing when to go to Disney World takes the guesswork out of making the most of your trip to one of the world’s most popular parks. Visiting the playful ground full of magical kingdoms when the crowds are low is the easiest way to ensure you have a great trip.
