Common Phone Problems
We are in a digital age where almost everyone is glued to their smartphone screen. We carry our phones everywhere from restaurants and parties and even in the bathroom. As such, it can get frustrating when your phone isn’t working as it should. Like any other machine, your phone is likely to succumb to crashes, bugs and other issues, especially as it gets older. Here are some of the most common phone problems you might encounter.
Common Phone Problems
This article outlines a few common issues you might experience when using your phone. It also explains a few simple fixes you can do on your own.
Your Phone is Running Slowly
This is probably the most common phone problem and often occurs as your phone gets older. The main cause of poor phone performance is the installation of unnecessary apps that save numerous files and use up your device’s Random-Access Memory (RAM). To fix this, simply delete all unnecessary apps and clean up cache data. If you still experience the problem, restore the phone to factory state.
Poor Battery Life
This problem often results from a charging failure, slow charging or battery draining too fast. The major issue is when your phone is discharging when you’re not utilizing it. In this case, start by establishing whether there are apps that are draining too much battery. Check the battery settings and delete any apps that are using too much power. Other options include turning off locations, dimming the brightness and entering battery save mode or even replacing your battery.
Insufficient Storage Space
Chances are your phone’s storage is filled with videos and photos. If you’re experiencing storage problems, delete the cache first. You can use apps that will help you clear the cache. Your next step is to move or uninstall unnecessary apps from the phone and finally transfer videos and images onto cloud storage to free up space on your device. Alternatively, consider investing in expandable storage (if your phone supports it).
Phone or App Crashes
This is likely to happen when your phone is running out of space or there’s a bug in the installed apps. To deal with this, use the “App manager” to clear app data. You also want to avoid running multiple apps simultaneously. Another option is to restart the device, remove the battery (if it’s removable) or restore your device to factory settings.
Overheating
Overheating is often caused by excess usage of your phone. Apps that demand lots of power and memory, such as games, will raise your phone’s temperature and affect the performance of your battery. Overheating can also result from malicious apps running in the background.
Avoid using your phone while it’s charging. Don’t overuse it and try to steer clear of demanding apps.
Bottom Line
Other common phone problems you might experience include having a problem connecting with a cellular network, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, MicroSD not working on your device, synchronization issues, apps not downloading and immersion in water that leads to water damage or a cracked screen. While there are plenty of DIY fixes for simple problems, seek professional help especially when you’re dealing with a hardware malfunction.
